The Black Frontline

The Black Frontline, led by the Department of Africana Studies at Brown University, is the largest oral history project documenting the experiences of Black doctors and nurses globally. Marking the three-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought unprecedented upheaval and transformation, The Black Frontline captures stories of sacrifice, survival, community, loss, and humanity from Black healthcare workers on the frontlines in the US, the UK, and Ghana. By providing a comprehensive account of the unique challenges and triumphs faced by Black healthcare professionals during the pandemic, this project highlights the critical role they played in navigating the crisis, offering a platform for their voices to be heard and preserved for future generations.

Leveraging Technology for Global Reach

To facilitate this monumental project, The Black Frontline partnered with TheirStory to help in the recording, transcribing, and archiving of oral histories. TheirStory's advanced remote interviewing capabilities were instrumental in overcoming geographical barriers, allowing for seamless interviews with participants from different parts of the world. This collaboration ensures that the stories of Black doctors and nurses are documented accurately and authentically, capturing their personal and professional experiences during the pandemic.
