Intro Videos & Text Intros

Warm Up Your Contributors Before They Record

First impressions matter. Make yours count.

When someone receives a testimonial link, they often don't know what they're walking into. A short intro video gives you a chance to explain the project, set the tone, and make them feel like their story actually matters to someone. You can also greet the participant with a text introduction if that’s more appropriate.

The details:

  • Upload, record, or use an existing TheirStory video
  • Contributors are presented with an intro video upon entering
  • Improve participation and quality of the responses

The short video below gives a brief introduction to the possibilities of intro videos.

If you’re curious how intro videos could support your work, just reply to this email or schedule time with us- we’d love to explore it together.

Question Groups

The Right Questions for the Right Person

Not every contributor has the same story, so why give them the same questions?

Question Groups let you create separate question tracks for different types of contributors while still using a single shareable link. Contributors self-select their group at the start, and the questions shift accordingly without any extra complexity on their end. The result is responses that go deeper because the questions actually fit the person answering them.

When Stories Shape Policy: The Community Wisdom Project in Action

Communities in Schools (CIS) launched the Community Wisdom Project (CWP) to turn community stories into policies that scale the supports students need to succeed. CIS is the nation’s leading provider of K-12 school-based integrated student supports serving more than 2 million students across 3,000+ schools.

Far too often, education policy excludes the wisdom of those who know first-hand what's happening in and around schools and what students and families most need. The Community Wisdom Project is changing that. As of March 2026, nearly 175 individuals from 25 communities across each region of the country have contributed their authentic personal accounts, called “stories,” to the CWP. Communities In Schools is taking their communities' voices directly to policymakers on Capitol Hill and sector leaders across the nation, supplying them with the wisdom they need to make smart decisions.

A few months after launching the Community Wisdom Project, CIS turned to TheirStory as the tool for implementing the initiative that addressed many of the needs that no other service could do holistically. It offers a straightforward experience for users that is also highly-sophisticated, making it easy for anyone to participate from anywhere while also capturing high-quality, shareable videos. The branding optionality lends further credibility and coherence to a large-scale, distributed effort. Furthermore, TheirStory's leading-edge transcription and indexing features elevates it from a database into an integrated solution for analyzing stories to drive advocacy. The Community Wisdom Project values the partnership with TheirStory not only because of its best-in-class technology but also because of its willingness to adapt alongside the CWP.
