What is a portal?

A Portal is a branded website that makes your TheirStory collections more immersive, for deeper public engagement or more robust internal use. Add as many of your recordings as you like to your Portal, and choose your preferred search experience:

• Traditional keyword and thematic queries across all recordings, with full attribution
• Discover, our conversational query engine that deepens discovery and engagement across all recordings, with citations

Ask Discover a question in plain language and get relevant answers from your full collection, with citations to the exact moment in each individual recording.

Why Portals?

We built Portals to address a few specific needs you’ve told us about:

• Dark archives
• Research projects
• Collections consolidation
• Fundraising efforts
• Internal use

Every Portal is built on real archival standards underneath the simple interface: proper metadata alignment, existing transcripts carried over rather than redone, and accessibility built to WCAG 2.1 AA (coming soon). Made for browsing, but it holds up to real research too.
